Vibration isolation and energy harvesting integrated in a Stewart platform with high static and low dynamic stiffness

Ze-Qi Lu et al.

Summary: An electromagnetic Stewart platform with high static and low dynamic stiffness is explored to reduce vibration in six degrees of freedom (6-DOFs) and harvest energy simultaneously. The use of stiffness nonlinearity improves vibration isolation efficiency, leading to lower frequencies for vibration isolation and considerable power output. Analytical and numerical results both support the extension of vibration isolation frequency band and reduced vibration transmissibility with increased energy harvesting.

Nonlinear damping and mass effects of electromagnetic shunt damping for enhanced nonlinear vibration isolation

Hongye Ma et al.

Summary: This study investigates the nonlinear mass and damping effects of nonlinear electromagnetic shunt damping on the vibration isolation performance of a permanent magnets based nonlinear vibration isolator. By designing a specific electromagnetic structure and analyzing the mechanic-electromagnetic coupling coefficient, equivalent nonlinear damping and mass are achieved. The use of inductance is found to change the mass and frequency response of the vibration isolator.

Frequency locking in the internal resonance of two electrostatically coupled micro-resonators with frequency ratio 1:3

Xuefeng Wang et al.

Summary: This experimental study investigates the internal resonance of electrostatically coupled cubic nonlinear low-frequency micro-resonator and linear high-frequency micro-resonator, observing a frequency locking phenomenon for the first time at a 1:3 frequency ratio when the coupling strength exceeds a certain value. Theoretical analysis is then conducted to explain this phenomenon, which is ultimately utilized to enhance the short-time frequency stability of the low-frequency resonator by nearly 7-fold.

A hybrid piezo-dielectric wind energy harvester for high-performance vortex-induced vibration energy harvesting

Zhihui Lai et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a novel hybrid piezo-dielectric wind energy harvester that efficiently harvests vortex-induced vibration (VIV) energy from low-speed wind by combining piezoelectric ceramic and a vibro-impact dielectric elastomer generator. Experimental and numerical studies show that the hybrid harvester can effectively collect energy in the lock-in region of VIV, with the vibro-impact DEG generating higher power. This highlights the superiority of the hybrid harvester design.
