Analysis of a Reaction-Diffusion Cholera Model with Distinct Dispersal Rates in the Human Population

Jinliang Wang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the long term behaviors of a reaction-diffusion cholera model in a bounded spatial domain with zero-flux boundary condition. It addresses the existence of global solution, uniform boundedness of solution, asymptotic smoothness of semiflows, and the existence of a global attractor. The basic reproduction number R0 is defined for disease transmission and a threshold type result is established for disease eradication or uniform persistence. Results suggest that limiting movements of susceptible individuals can eliminate cholera, while restricting mobility of infected hosts causes infected individuals to concentrate at certain points in some cases.

Traveling Wave Solutions for a Class of Discrete Diffusive SIR Epidemic Model

Ran Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper examines the conditions of existence and nonexistence of traveling wave solutions for a class of discrete diffusive epidemic model. The existence of traveling wave solutions is determined by the basic reproduction number and critical wave speed.

Analysis of a malaria epidemic model with age structure and spatial diffusion

Chunyue Wang et al.

Summary: This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the threshold dynamics of an age-space structured malaria epidemic model. The model is formulated in a spatially bounded domain, with the well-posedness shown by appealing to fixed point problem theory and Picard sequences. The global attractor, explicit formula for basic reproduction number, and stability of equilibria are established through characteristic root distribution and Lyapunov functions.
