Enhanced strength-ductility synergy in a novel V-containing γ-strengthened CoCrNi-based multi-component alloy

The introduction of gamma '' precipitates in V-containing CoCrNi-based alloy results in superior strength-ductility synergy, with a combination of ultimate-tensile-strength and elongation similar to 51.8 GPa.%, and yield-strength similar to 890.6 MPa. The use of synchrotron XRD was able to identify the presence of gamma '' phase in these alloys, with a moderate gamma ''/gamma lattice misfit providing a good combination of coherency-strengthening and coarsening-resistance.
gamma '' precipitates have been introduced into V-containing CoCrNi-based alloy, showing superior strength-ductility synergy (product of ultimate-tensile-strength and elongation similar to 51.8 GPa.%, yield-strength similar to 890.6 MPa) than reported gamma ''-strengthened and CoCrNi-based alloys. Synchrotron XRD was first-time used to identify the existence of gamma '' phase in V-containing CoCrNi-based alloys, where moderate gamma ''/gamma lattice misfit results in good combination of coherency-strengthening and coarsening-resistance.
