Ternary Ni-Co-Mn oxide (NCM) was used for corrosion prevention application in this study for the first time, showing promising corrosion resistance behavior in Ni/NCM composite coatings. The composite coatings with minor quantities of NCM particles demonstrated superior corrosion resistance.
In this work, for the first time, ternary Ni-Co-Mn oxide (NCM) has been utilized for corrosion prevention application. Ni/NCM composite coatings prepared through the DC deposition technique and evaluated the corrosion resistance behavior. The prepared NCM portrays the spinel structure. The Ni/NCM composite is perceived in (111), (200), and (220) crystal orientation. The fabricated Ni/NCM composite coatings divulge microcubes decorated pyramid-like morphology. The Electrodeposited Ni/NCM composite exhibits E-corr and j(corr) values of -302.9 mV vs. SCE and 2.419 x 10(-7) A cm(-2) respectively, which is lower than the MS and Ni. The composite coatings with minor quantities of NCM (2.89 At%) particles display superior corrosion resistance behavior. (C) 2021 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
