The report discusses the structure and temperature-dependent magnetic properties of α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles and α-Fe2O3/graphene oxide nanocomposite. It highlights the enhanced magnetism in the nanocomposite due to temperature-dependent charge sharing process. Raman spectroscopy is used to probe d.c. magnetization in a novel way to understand the underlying physics of the charge sharing process.
In this report, we discuss structure and temperature-dependent magnetic properties of ?-Fe2O3 nanoparticles and ?-Fe2O3/graphene oxide nanocomposite synthesized using solvothermal and hydrothermal synthesis respectively. We specifically highlight the unique magnetism arising in ?-Fe2O3/graphene oxide nanocomposite which forms a stable, multi-scale inhomogeneous network and shows enhanced magnetism. ?-Fe2O3/graphene oxide nanocomposite shows an enhanced spin-orbit and spin-lattice interaction, which is a result of temperature dependent charge sharing process. D.c. magnetization is probed using Raman spectroscopy in a novel way to understand inlying physics of charge sharing process. In addition, various potentials arising due to anisotropy energy and induced dipole moment affecting the spatial spin polarization. Further, change in entropy w.r.t field strength is investigated in both the systems to understand the magnetic and structural changes that graphene oxide brings to alpha-Fe2O3 nanoparticle's anisotropy energy and magnetic interaction, rendering insight into fundamental alpha-Fe2O3/graphene oxide materials.
