Surface chemistry of TiO2-ZnO thin films doped with Ag. Its role on the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue

M. Perez-Gonzalez et al.

Summary: Photocatalytic Ag-loaded (TiO2)(0.95)-(ZnO)(0.05) thin films were successfully synthesized using the sol-gel dip-coating method, with the incorporation and surface diffusion of Ag confirmed by secondary ion mass spectrometry measurements. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed the chemical composition and electronic structure of the samples, confirming the presence of TiO2 and ZnO. The best response in photocatalytic activity was observed in the (TiO2)(0.95)-(ZnO)(0.05) thin films doped with 2 mol% Ag.

Influence of ZnO nanostructure configuration on tailoring the optical bandgap: Theory and experiment

Alireza Samavati et al.

Summary: The research systematically investigates the structural and optical properties of ZnO nanostructures synthesized using the electroless deposition technique, showing a shape-dependent relationship between structure and bandgap. The experimental results demonstrate changes in lattice parameters, bandgap, and dislocation density as ZnO nanostructures transition from compact ZnO to nanoparticles. The shift in bandgap and increase in dislocation density in ZnO nanoparticles highlight the shape dependency, providing insights for future integrated optoelectronic device applications.

Modeling and Box-Behnken design optimization of photocatalytic parameters for efficient removal of dye by lanthanum-doped mesoporous TiO2

Hanane Chaker et al.

Summary: In this study, the Box-Behnken design in the response surface methodology was used to investigate the modelization and optimization of Methyl Orange mineralization parameters with La doped mesoporous TiO2. The effects of irradiation light wavelength, catalyst weight, and MO concentration on the yield of MO mineralization were studied. The optimized conditions were determined to be 310 nm light wavelength, 80 mg catalyst weight, and 20 ppm MO concentration, achieving a mineralization rate of 99.89%.
