Comparison of trace element concentrations in freshwater fish and marine fish consumed in Shandong Province, China, and their potential risks to human health

Luping Yang et al.

Summary: This study compared the concentrations of ten trace elements in four freshwater cultured fish and six marine fish in markets of Shandong province, China, and evaluated the potential human health risks. The majority of the fish species examined were found to be safe for human consumption, but concerns remain regarding chromium in freshwater fish and arsenic in marine fish.

Evaluation of trace metals and rare earth elements in mantis shrimp Oratosquilla oratoria collected from Shandong Province, China, and its potential risks to human health

Yanni Jiao et al.

Summary: This study provided primary data on trace elements and rare earth elements in mantis shrimp samples from Shandong Province, China, showing that while most target TREs were within recommended limits, Cd and iAs levels exceeded these limits. The study also found that the concentrations of TREs in mantis shrimp were impacted by the characteristics of the species.
