Local SAR compression with overestimation control to reduce maximum relative SAR overestimation and improve multi-channel RF array performance

Stephan Orzada et al.

Summary: Two strategies are proposed in this study to reduce maximum relative overestimation in local SAR compression algorithms. The first strategy uses an overestimation matrix that roughly approximates actual local SAR, while the second strategy uses a small set of pre-calculated VOPs. Compared to a previous method, these strategies can reduce the number of VOPs by around 20% while potentially leading to a higher absolute overestimation at high actual local SAR values.

Local SAR compression algorithm with improved compression, speed, and flexibility

Stephan Orzada et al.

Summary: This study proposes an iterative expansion method of an existing algorithm, gradually reducing the number of virtual observation points to improve the speed of online monitoring and pulse design, and evaluates it on different simulated arrays. The new algorithm significantly reduces the number of virtual observation points and compression time, with speed-up factors of up to 2.5.
