Digital droplet PCR accurately quantifies SARS-CoV-2 viral load from crude lysate without nucleic acid purification

Harish N. Vasudevan et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the accurate and consistent measurement of SARS-CoV-2 viral load using digital droplet PCR (ddPCR) directly from crude lysate without nucleic acid purification. ddPCR performs well in nasopharyngeal swab specimens with low input viral copy numbers, showing higher sensitivity and robustness compared to qPCR when using crude lysate.
