Platelet microvesicles are associated with the severity of coronary artery disease: comparison between peripheral and coronary circulation

E. Gkaliagkousi et al.

Summary: Microvesicles have been identified as markers of thrombosis, with platelet microvesicles significantly increased in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and acute coronary syndrome (ACS). ACS patients showed increased platelet microvesicles in both coronary and peripheral circulation, and coronary microvesicles may indicate the severity of CAD in this population.

Skin microvascular dysfunction in systemic lupus erythematosus patients with and without cardiovascular risk factors

Nikolaos Koletsos et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that patients with SLE show reduced microvascular reactivity during reperfusion, even in the absence of overt cardiovascular disease or risk factors, compared to controls. These findings indicate that skin microvascular dysfunction is present in SLE independent of the cardiovascular burden these patients carry, suggesting it may serve as an early indicator of vascular damage.
