Plant Growth-Promoting Effect of the Chitosanolytic Phosphate-Solubilizing BacteriumBurkholderia gladioliMEL01 After Fermentation with Chitosan and Fertilization with Rock Phosphate

Xiaowen Sun et al.

Summary: Phosphate-solubilizing bacteria Burkholderia gladioli MEL01 isolated from rice-wheat rotation rhizosphere soil showed excellent capacity in solubilizing phosphate and chitosanase activity. The chitooligosaccharide product enhanced its phosphate solubilizing capacity, suggesting its potential as a phosphate biofertilizer in ecological agricultural production.

Decreases in soil P availability are associated with soil organic P declines following forest conversion in subtropical China

Liuming Yang et al.

Summary: The study found that the conversion of natural forests to plantations significantly decreased most soil P fractions, including labile inorganic P, organic P, and moderately labile organic P. This was partly due to declines in microbial populations that play a key role in releasing P. Organic P decomposition facilitated by microbial phosphatases can sustain P availability in forest soils.

Inoculation of plant growth promoting bacteria and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi improve chickpea performance under water deficit conditions

Sara Laranjeira et al.

Summary: This study found that co-inoculation with plant growth promoting bacteria and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi benefits chickpea plant growth and yield, particularly in drought stress conditions. Plants irrigated only during the reproductive stages had the highest cumulative grain yield. Therefore, in water-scarce environments, deficit irrigation combined with microbial inoculation offers potential benefits for chickpea agricultural production.
