Summary: The complexes [RhX(COD)](2) can form cocrystals with sigma-hole iodine donors through the nucleophilicity of the d(z)(2)-orbitals of two positively charged rhodium(I) centers. X-ray diffraction studies and theoretical considerations suggest that the two metal centers act as an integrated XB acceptor, providing assembly via a metal-involving XB.
