Effects of Pd- and Ta-buffer layer on magnetic and interfacial perpendicular properties of sputtered Co2FeSi/MgO heterostructures

Ke Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the significant influence of Pd and Ta buffer layers on the magnetic and interfacial PMA properties of CFS/MgO heterostructures. Pd-buffered structure shows a wider window of MgO thickness exhibiting PMA, while Ta-buffered structure exhibits thicker magnetic dead layer and lower saturation magnetization. PMA is shown to be insensitive to buffer thickness and mainly originates from the heterostructure interface.

Current-Induced Spin Torques on Single GdFeCo Magnetic Layers

David Cespedes-Berrocal et al.

Summary: Spintronics utilizes spin-orbit coupling to produce spin currents and torques, often using heavy metals with large SOC. A new material architecture is introduced, demonstrating strong current-induced torques on ferrimagnetic layers due to Gd 5d states and interface engineering. This platform offers new opportunities for self-torquing single magnetic layers and generating spin currents.

Unusual anomalous Hall effect in the ferrimagnetic GdFeCo alloy

Yangping Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the anomalous Hall effect of a ferrimagnetic GdFeCo film with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy and demonstrated the manipulation of its transport properties through ionic liquid gating. The peak structure of the Hall resistance loops near the magnetization compensation temperature is mainly caused by the opposite magnetic moments of the two sublattices of Gd and FeCo, which can be explained by the mechanism of the two-channel AHE.

Real-time Hall-effect detection of current-induced magnetization dynamics in ferrimagnets

G. Sala et al.

Summary: A new approach for time-resolved measurements of magnetization reversal is presented, showing activation delays in the current-induced switching of GdFeCo, despite high domain-wall velocity. The method is applicable to various current-induced phenomena and can be combined with non-electrical excitations for pump-probe Hall effect measurements.
