Integrated omics and bioinformatics analyses for the toxic mechanism and material basis of Sophorae Tonkinensis radix et rhizome-induced hepatotoxicity

Shuai-nan Zhang et al.

Summary: Sophorae Tonkinensis radix et rhizome (ST) has therapeutic effects in traditional Chinese medicine theory, but its utilization is limited due to its toxicity. This study used integrated omics and bioinformatics analyses to investigate the mechanism and material basis of ST-induced hepatotoxicity. The study revealed multiple differentially expressed proteins and metabolites, as well as toxic targets and compounds associated with ST-induced hepatotoxicity. The dysregulation of these targets may lead to hepatocyte necrosis/apoptosis, liver metastasis, and liver cirrhosis.
