A calcined clay fixed bed adsorption studies for the removal of heavy metals from aqueous solutions

Leila Khalfa et al.

Summary: A natural clay material from southern Tunisia was used as a low cost sorbent in a column-wise removal of metal pollutants, showing promising results for sustainable wastewater treatment strategies. Column adsorption experiments were carried out for production of cleaner effluents and understanding of main removal mechanisms through a dynamic methodology.

Biomass-derived porous carbonaceous materials and their composites as adsorbents for cationic and anionic dyes: A review

Mohammad M. Hassan et al.

Summary: Textile dyes in effluent pose a challenge due to their intense color, but carbonaceous adsorbents produced from biomass show high dye-binding capacity. The pore volume and functional groups of adsorbents are crucial factors in achieving efficient dye removal.

Bentonite grafted with poly(N-acryloylglycineamide) brush: A novel clay-polymer brush hybrid material for the effective removal of Hg(II) and As(V) from aqueous environments

Sakir Yilmaz et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that PNAGA@BNT showed good adsorption performance for Hg(II) and As(V), with optimal operating parameters determined using RSM and CCD methods. The adsorption process followed pseudo-second-order kinetics and Weber-Morris intraparticle diffusion mechanism, with Langmuir and Freundlich models fitting best for Hg(II) and Dubinin-Radushkevich and Freundlich models for As(V). Thermodynamic studies indicated the adsorption process was exothermic and spontaneous.

Multifunctional amphoteric resin to remove both anionic and cationic dyes from aqueous solution

Ramazan Coskun et al.

Summary: This study synthesized a new amphoteric resin for efficient removal of both cationic (methylene blue) and anionic (reactive red-120) dyes, displaying high removal affinity and stability. Adsorption behavior followed Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second order kinetic model, with electrostatic interaction playing a dominant role. The resin maintained its high removal efficiency even in concentrated matrix environments, with minimal decrease after repeated cycles.
