Precise initial abundance of Niobium-92 in the Solar System and implications for p-process nucleosynthesis

Summary: By analyzing the Nb-92-Zr-92 systematics of cogenetic rutiles and zircons, as well as U-Pb dating of the same zircons, the initial Nb-92 abundance in the Solar System was determined to be (1.66 +/- 0.10) × 10(-5). This discovery contributes to a better understanding of the early Solar System nucleosynthesis process and provides further evidence that both type Ia supernovae and core-collapse supernovae contributed to the light p-process nuclei.
