High quality thermochromic VO2 thin films deposited at room temperature by balanced and unbalanced HiPIMS

J. L. Victor et al.

Summary: In this study, vanadium dioxide thin films were successfully deposited at room temperature using high power impulse magnetron sputtering with two different magnetron configurations. The unbalanced magnetron configuration allowed for the growth of high quality VO2(M) films at lower temperatures, showing efficient changes in transmittance exceeding 70% in the IR spectral region. This demonstrates the potential of unbalanced HiPIMS technology for achieving high optical performances for VO2.

Influence of low Bi contents on phase transformation properties of VO2 studied in a VO2:Bi thin film library

Xiao Wang et al.

Summary: A thin-film materials library was fabricated in the V-Bi-O system using reactive co-sputtering. It was found that the solubility limit of Bi in VO2 is approximately 0.29 at%, and the phase transformation temperatures of VO2:Bi as well as the V5+/V4+ ratio are significantly affected by the Bi content.
