Using the motor power and XGBoost to diagnose working states of a sucker rod pump

Lu Chen et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel method based on motor power to detect faults of the sucker rod pump, transforming dynamometer cards into motor power curves and analyzing characteristics under different working states, extracting sixteen features and using XGBoost algorithm for classification and identification of working states. Experimental results in the oil field demonstrate a high accuracy of 98% and the effectiveness of the proposed method.
