Reactive oxygen species in immune cells: A new antitumor target

Ling Wang et al.

Summary: Immune cells have the potential to control tumor growth, but this effect can be negated by immunosuppression caused by increased reactive oxygen species. Studies show that the antitumor effect of immune cells is linked to their antioxidant capacity. Understanding the role of reactive oxygen species in the tumor microenvironment and their effects on different immune cells is crucial for targeting antioxidant defense in immune cells for cancer treatment.

Preparations and antioxidant activities of sesamol and it's derivatives

Shiyang Zhou et al.

Summary: Antioxidants are substances that can effectively inhibit the oxidation reaction of free radicals, and there are many chemical components with antioxidant activity in natural products. Sesamol is a natural product with antioxidant activity, and it is often used as an antioxidant in food, medicine and other fields. Sesamol derivatives synthesized in this study have shown good antioxidant activity, with compound 4d exhibiting the best antioxidant activity. Further studies on the use of sesamol derivatives as antioxidants in various fields are needed.

Pyrrole-2,5-dione analogs as a promising antioxidant agents: microwave-assisted synthesis, bio-evaluation, SAR analysis and DFT studies/interpretation

Guda Mallikarjuna Reddy et al.

Summary: A new series of pyrrole analogs were synthesized via microwave irradiation, resulting in high yields. Most of the obtained compounds showed significant antioxidant activity, with some exhibiting outstanding properties. DFT studies and analysis of structure-activity relationships revealed that compounds with low HOMO-LUMO energy gaps exhibited high biological activity, emphasizing the importance of theoretical descriptors in bioorganic research.
