In this study, a new fluorocarbon surfactant FES-Na was synthesized and its interface adsorption behavior and foam performance in 50% ethanol were studied. The mechanism of foam stability follows the classic double-layer film theory. The results demonstrate that FES-Na can generate stable foam in 50% ethanol, making it an alternative foaming agent in the ethanol-water system.
In this study, we synthesized a new fluorocarbon surfactant, viz. sodium perfluoroalkyl polyoxyethylene ether sulfate (FES-Na), and studied its interface adsorption behavior and foam performance in 50 vol% ethanol. The mechanism of foam stability conforms to the classic double-layer film theory. The results show that FES-Na can produce stable foam in 50 vol% ethanol, and is thus an alternative foaming agent in ethanol-water system. (C) 2021 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
