Theory of Long-Lived Room-Temperature Phosphorescence in Organic Aggregates

Qian Peng et al.

Summary: Through theoretical and quantum chemistry calculations, the mechanism of intermolecular electrostatic interaction-induced room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) has been elucidated. This mechanism is believed to be essential for understanding persistent organic RTP induced by aggregation/crystal and has been successfully applied in explaining various experiments.

Construction of two lanthanide schiff base complexes: Chiral triple-decker structure and NIR luminescent response towards anions

Xia Liu et al.

Summary: Two 4f and 3d-4f complexes were constructed from a Schiff base ligand and showed different structures with open 3D channel structures formed in the solid state. Excited by ligand-centered absorption bands, the complexes exhibited typical NIR emission of Yb3+ and Nd3+, with complex 2 also showing lanthanide luminescent response towards anions such as CN- and OAc- at ppm level.

Fluorescence probes detecting O2•- based on intramolecular charge transfer and excited-state intramolecular proton transfer mechanisms

Xiao Luo et al.

Summary: The study introduced a new fluorescence probe HMBT-LW, successfully detecting O-2(center dot)- ions in living organisms and exploring its excited intramolecular proton transfer mechanism. The experimental results indicated that the emitted fluorescence originated from the isomer structure of HMBT.

Conformational torsion, intramolecular hydrogen bonding and solvent effects in intersystem crossing of singlet-triplet excited states for heavy-atom-free organic long persistent luminescence

Yanan Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of conformation torsion on the electronic structure, intramolecular hydrogen bonding, and solvent effects on the photophysics of donor-acceptor molecules. It was found that conformational torsion significantly influenced the photophysical properties of the molecules, particularly due to intramolecular hydrogen bonding. Additionally, solvation effects led to changes in the molecular spectra.

Summary: By replacing heteroatoms in ITX molecules, significant changes in photochemical properties can be achieved, including distortion of molecular structure, alteration of energy levels, and red-shift of spectra, leading to the realization of purely organic room temperature phosphorescence.

Elaborating the influence of substituent on energy gap and spin-orbit coupling of singlet-triplet excited states of novel organic light-emitting anthraquinone compounds in solution

Yurong Guo et al.

Summary: In this study, the theoretical investigation of the single-triplet excited state transition process of novel anthraquinone compounds in solution was conducted by analyzing the effects of energy gap (ΔE-ST) and spin-orbit coupling (SOC). It was found that the molecular conformation, steady-state spectra, and molecular orbitals were influenced by substituents, leading to changes in ΔE-ST and SOC. The presence of benzene in donor units and enhanced conjugation were shown to decrease ΔE-ST and increase SOC in different anthraquinone compounds.
