Fabrication of robust and versatile superhydrophobic coating by two-step spray method: An experimental and molecular dynamics simulation study

Hamid Daneshmand et al.

Summary: The study focused on fabricating superhydrophobic surfaces using a two-step spray method, investigating parameters such as stability of spray suspension and thermal stability of the coating. Results showed that decreasing particle agglomeration rate enhances the hydrophobicity of the layer, while increasing temperature may reduce roughness and hydrophobicity.

Preparation of Ni-W-eGO composite coatings and investigation of its mechanical properties and corrosion resistance

Bo Liu et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the use of electrochemically prepared edge-oxidized graphene oxide (eGO) as nano-materials doped in Ni-W electrolyte solution, successfully preparing high-performance Ni-W-eGO coating on P110 carbon steel. Compared with the original Ni-W coating, the Ni-W-eGO composite coating significantly improves the corrosion resistance of the P110 steel sheet in a 3.5 wt% NaCl solution, with the optimal amount of eGO determined to be 0.5 g/L.

Effect of H-MWCNTs addition on anti-corrosion performance and mechanical character of Ni-Cu/H-MWCNTs composite coatings prepared by pulse electrodeposition technique

Ruxia Song et al.

Summary: Ni-Cu/H-MWCNTs composite coatings with outstanding corrosion resistance and high wear resistance were successfully prepared by pulse electrodeposition technology. The successful doping of HMWCNTs changed the microstructure and morphology of the coating, resulting in a smoother and denser surface. The composite coating exhibited significantly improved anti-corrosion performance compared to the pristine Ni-Cu-based coating.

Iron sulphide formation and interaction with corrosion inhibitor in H2S-containing environments

Frederick Pessu et al.

Summary: The paper investigates the corrosion characteristics of carbon steel in H2S-containing environments, with a focus on the early stage kinetics of FeS formation and its interaction with corrosion inhibitors. Results show that the fast kinetics of FeS formation have a significant influence on the overall corrosion characteristics of carbon steel. However, the amount of commercial corrosion inhibitor used in the study was not able to effectively prevent the pitting corrosion induced by FeS.

New Promising Ceramic Coatings for Corrosion and Wear Protection of Steels: A Review

Navid Attarzadeh et al.

Summary: Steel, with its excellent properties, is widely used in various applications, but it lacks corrosion and wear resistance. Ceramic coatings produced via plasma electrolytic oxidation have been utilized to enhance steel's protective properties. Researchers have developed new methods to overcome the challenges in forming ceramic coatings on steel surfaces and improved the efficiency of PEO ceramic coatings.

Fabrication of the ZrC reinforced Ni-W composite coating and exploration of its mechanical properties and corrosion resistance

Hongjie Li et al.

Summary: In this study, ZrC nanoparticles dispersion strengthening Ni-W composite coatings were fabricated using pulse electrodeposition technology with an adopted current density of 5 A.dm(-2). The addition of ZrC NPs significantly improved the surface integrity and mechanical properties of the coatings, leading to enhanced corrosion resistance. Particularly, when the amount of ZrC NPS in the electroplating solution was 2 g/L, the composite coating exhibited the best performance in terms of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.
