An investigation on the photocatalytic activity of sub-stoichiometric TiO2-x coatings produced by suspension plasma spray

Hediyeh Khatibnezhad et al.

Summary: By coating sub-stoichiometric TiO2-x films on stainless steel substrates and annealing at different temperatures, it is possible to enhance the photocatalytic activity and improve the degradation of methylene blue. Research on TiO2-x coatings indicates that oxygen vacancies have a positive effect on photocatalytic activity, reducing charge recombination rates by introducing energy levels.

Self-Driven Reactive Oxygen Species Generation via Interfacial Oxygen Vacancies on Carbon-Coated TiO2-x with Versatile Applications

Pin Lyu et al.

Summary: The novel method introduces a way to activate O-2 spontaneously through interfacial oxygen vacancies on carbon-coated TiO2-x, generating reactive oxygen species with versatile applications. The reactive oxygen species exhibit excellent performance in oxidation reactions and inhibition of MCF-7 cancer cells, providing new insight into the effective utilization of O-2 via oxygen vacancies on metal oxides.

Engineering self-doped surface defects of anatase TiO2 nanosheets for enhanced photocatalytic efficiency

Yuanxu Liu et al.

Summary: Anatase TiO2 nanosheets with controlled locations of defects were synthesized by adjusting temperatures and amounts of added HF during hydrothermal synthesis. Nanosheets with dominant surface defects showed higher activity in photocatalytic water reduction, demonstrating the promotion effect of surface defects on TiO2 photocatalysis. Surface defects can trap photogenerated charges and activate reactants, facilitating surface reactions and offering a novel strategy to enhance photocatalytic efficiency of TiO2 photocatalysts.

Surface engineering of mesoporous anatase titanium dioxide nanotubes for rapid spatial charge separation on horizontal-vertical dimensions and efficient solar-driven photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Wutao Yang et al.

Summary: One-dimensional mesoporous anatase TiO2 nanotubes with engineered surface defects were fabricated using a solvothermal synthesis and high-temperature surface hydrogenation strategy, resulting in a significant decrease in bandgap and enhanced photoresponse to visible-light region. The defective nanotubes exhibited excellent photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate due to efficient spatial charge separation and abundant surface active sites.

Reduction of aflatoxin B1 by magnetic graphene oxide/TiO2 nanocomposite and its effect on quality of corn oil

Shumin Sun et al.

Summary: The study synthesized a magnetic graphene oxide/TiO2 nanocomposite for reducing aflatoxin B-1 in corn oil, with a high reduction rate of 96.4% under UV-Vis light after 120 min illumination. The photocatalytic activity of the nanocomposite was enhanced under both UV and visible light, with holes and hydroxyl radicals playing key roles in AFB(1) reduction. The quality of the treated corn oil remained acceptable after 180 days, demonstrating an effective and environmentally friendly approach for reducing AFB(1) in oil products.
