Geometrical modeling of 3D woven honeycomb fabric for manufacturing of lightweight sandwich composite material

Summary: This paper investigates a textile fiber-based 3D woven honeycomb structure, and develops mathematical models to calculate its repeat unit weight, fiber volume fraction, and specific weight. Experimental validation shows a high agreement between theoretical and actual values. The model can be used to design lightweight structural composite materials.

Analytical and numerical models were developed to determine the impact energy and evaluate the ballistic impact. The behavior, failure mechanisms, and energy dissipation of fabric under ballistic impact were analyzed and validated.

Prediction of internal geometry and tensile behavior of 3D woven solid structures by mathematical coding

Summary: A new approach using mathematical coding to predict the internal geometry and tensile behavior of 3D woven fabrics has been proposed in this study. It aims to provide a generalized method for all structures and effectively analyze the geometrical parameters of the fabric. The results show that mathematical coding is an efficient modeling technique with an acceptable error percentage.
