Characterizing the second wave of fish and invertebrate colonization of an offshore petroleum platform

Victoria L. G. Todd et al.

Summary: Investigations on the colonization of a petroleum platform in the North Sea revealed an increase in species diversity over a 2-year period, with a growing number of sessile species residing on the structure. Evidence of on-jacket reproduction was found for certain commercially important species.

Application of a multibeam echosounder to document changes in animal movement and behaviour around a tidal turbine structure

Benjamin J. Williamson et al.

Summary: This study investigated animal movement and behavior around tidal stream turbine structures using multibeam echosounder data. The majority of tracked animals were observed swimming against the flow, with many showing capability of manoeuvring in tidal stream flow speeds. The data also highlighted the benefits of using multibeam echosounders to measure animal movement accurately.
