Summary: Cardiac involvement is common in patients with systemic sclerosis. Myocardial native T1 and extracellular volume measured by cardiovascular magnetic resonance are novel non-invasive markers for risk stratification and disease monitoring. Late gadolinium enhancement, native T1, and ECV are associated with adverse events, showing potential as biomarkers for myocardial fibrosis in systemic sclerosis.
