Color-tunable and multiple upconversion luminescence of Bi2Ti2O7:Yb3+/Eu3+ nanofibers via electrospinning process

In this study, Bi2Ti2O7:Yb3+/Eu3+ nanofibers were successfully prepared via electrospinning, exhibiting unique upconversion luminescent properties under 980 nm laser excitation. The doping concentration of the nanofibers significantly influenced the emitted color, showing potential applications in bio-imaging and anti-counterfeiting fields.
Upconversion luminescent (UCL) materials have unique advantages in multicolor bio-imaging and anticounterfeiting. Bismuth-based oxide possess merits of stable chemical structure, low cost, and corrosion resistance. In this paper, the Bi2Ti2O7:Yb3+/Eu3+ nanofibers were successfully prepared via electrospinning process. The length of the obtained nanofibers is several hundred microns and the diameter are about 130 nm. The UCL properties of nanofibers were studied under excitation of 980 nm laser. The results revealed that the nanofibers emitted bright orange to green light when the doping concentration increases from 1:1 to 20:1. The work will not only promote the development of bismuth-based oxides among upconversion materials, but also promote the application of one-dimensional nanofibers in the fields of bioimaging and anti-counterfeiting.
