Site-Dependent Eu3+ Photoluminescence in Double Perovskite-Type Alkaline Earth Lanthanum Tantalates

Kazushige Ueda et al.

Summary: The location of Eu3+ ions in two different Eu3+ doped alkaline earth lanthanum tantalates significantly affects their photoluminescence properties, such as differences in excitation bands, emission transitions, and emission lifetimes. The structural differences of A and B sites result in distinct optical behaviors in terms of charge transfer excitation and emission spectra.

Computational simulation and crystal field analysis of the Eu3+-doped LiF

B. R. Mesquita et al.

Summary: In this study, the local symmetry of Eu3+ was investigated using atomistic simulation and crystal field models applied to lanthanides. The favorable LiF Anti-Schottky intrinsic defect was identified energetically, and spectroscopic calculations showed that europium occupies a luminescent site with distorted inversion. The slightly distorted D-4h symmetry was found to be most favorable for reproducing the energy sublevels accurately.

Modified radiative lifetime of Eu3+ ions in Y2O3 thin films on Al2O3 substrates

S. P. Feofilov et al.

Summary: The study focused on the fluorescence of Eu3+ ions in Y2O3 thin films grown on Al2O3 substrates, revealing small inhomogeneous broadening and distortions in the cubic lattice. Measurements of the fluorescence lifetimes provided insights into photon density of states and local field effects in thin crystalline films containing impurity ions.
