Pattern of treatment of behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia and pain: evidence on pharmacoutilization from a large real-world sample and from a centre for cognitive disturbances and dementia

Damiana Scuteri et al.

Summary: This study found that dementia is diagnosed late in Italy, with a high prescription rate of drugs for behavioral and psychological symptoms. Adherence to treatment does not impact the pattern of drug prescriptions. Additionally, antipsychotics and antidepressants are commonly used, while analgesics are under-prescribed.

Immunogenicity of biologic therapies for migraine: a review of current evidence

Joshua M. Cohen et al.

Summary: Studies on monoclonal antibodies targeting the CGRP pathway (CGRP mAbs) and their immunogenicity have shown that the immunogenicity rates of biologic therapies for migraine are low, with rare adverse events related to anti-drug antibodies (ADAs). Although there are variations in the prevalence of ADAs in different studies, neutralizing ADAs are relatively less common.

Ictal and interictal brain activation in episodic migraine: Neural basis for extent of allodynia

Nasim Maleki et al.

Summary: This study utilized functional neuroimaging to investigate the differences in brain activation of patients with episodic migraine based on their allodynic status. Differences were found in brain activity in various regions between the ictal and interictal visits, with notable differences along the trigeminal pathway in patients with generalized allodynia. These findings indicate hyper-responsiveness in certain brain regions in migraine patients experiencing allodynia during attacks.

Global Burden of Headache Disorders in Children and Adolescents 2007-2017

Matilde Leonardi et al.

Summary: Headache disorders, including migraine and tension-type headache, are prevalent and have a substantial impact on people of all ages globally. The study based on Global Burden of Disease data shows an increase in prevalence rates of these headache types over the past decade, especially among females. Unequal availability of effective treatments across regions may contribute to regional differences in headache burden. Promoting public health policies and strategies, including proper diagnosis and treatments, is crucial in reducing the disability and burden associated with headaches among children and adolescents.

Genome-wide transcriptome study in skin biopsies reveals an association of E2F4 with cadasil and cognitive impairment

Elena Muino et al.

Summary: CADASIL is a small vessel disease caused by mutations in NOTCH3, leading to abnormal protein folding. The overexpression of gene E2F4 is associated with worse executive function and information processing speed in CADASIL patients. Further studies are needed to investigate the potential of E2F4 as a biomarker or therapeutic target for CADASIL.

Changes in Cerebral Blood Flow after Erenumab Treatment in Good and Non-Responders-A Pilot Study of Migraine Patients

Magdalena Nowaczewska et al.

Summary: This study compared changes in cerebral blood flow between good responders and non-responders to erenumab treatment for migraine prevention. The results showed that good responders had lower baseline blood flow velocity in certain arteries, which significantly increased after treatment, suggesting that lower baseline blood flow velocity may predict efficacy of erenumab.
