Systemic and mucosal antibody response of freshwater cultured Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) to monovalent and bivalent vaccines against Streptococcus agalactiae and Streptococcus iniae

Nguyen Giang Thu Lan et al.

Summary: This study found that Asian seabass had a better immune response to monovalent vaccines for Streptococcus agalactiae and Streptococcus iniae compared to bivalent vaccines, producing significant specific antibody titers in both systemic and mucosal systems. In the challenge test, both monovalent and bivalent vaccines showed high efficacy, with relative percentage survival (RPS) ranging from 75 to 85%.

Cell Culture-Derived Tilapia Lake Virus-Inactivated Vaccine Containing Montanide Adjuvant Provides High Protection against Viral Challenge for Tilapia

Weiwei Zeng et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the immunological effects and protective efficacy of formaldehyde- and beta-propiolactone-inactivated vaccines against TiLV in tilapia, with and without the adjuvant Montanide IMS 1312 VG. Beta-propiolactone-inactivated vaccine showed higher protection efficacy against virus challenge compared to formaldehyde, generating specific IgM and neutralizing antibodies against TiLV. The vaccine also significantly lowered viral loads, increased survival rates, and stimulated a protective immune response, indicating potential for inhibiting viral proliferation.

Potency and efficacy of VP20-based vaccine against tilapia lake virus using different prime-boost vaccination regimens in tilapia

Weiwei Zeng et al.

Summary: The VP20-based vaccine can elicit both humoral and cellular immune responses and significantly protect fish against infectious challenge by Tilapia lake virus (TiLV). The DNA prime-protein boost immunization strategy showed the potential advantage over solo vaccination.

Mucosal immunoglobulins of teleost fish: A decade of advances

Irene Salinas et al.

Summary: Immunoglobulins play critical roles in the immune systems of jawed vertebrates, with IgT identified as playing a predominant role in fish mucosal immunity. Recent studies have highlighted the importance of secretory Igs in maintaining microbiota homeostasis and controlling pathogens at mucosal sites. This review aims to summarize the current status of fish Igs research since the discovery of IgT, while identifying future research directions.
