An Arabidopsis lipid map reveals differences between tissues and dynamic changes throughout development

Cheka Kehelpannala et al.

Summary: Mass spectrometry is the primary analytical tool used in plant lipidomics, but faces challenges due to the complexity of plant lipids. A robust pipeline was established to extract and analyze lipid profiles from different tissues and developmental stages of Arabidopsis thaliana, creating an online lipid map for visualization and exploration.

Identification of novel source of salt tolerance in local bread wheat germplasm using morpho-physiological and biochemical attributes

Nadeem Hussain et al.

Summary: The study aimed to select salt-tolerant wheat cultivars and identify novel sources of salt tolerance in local wheat germplasm. After screening, it was found that growth and yield of selected cultivars were reduced under salt stress, but some cultivars showed potential for salt tolerance due to maintenance of K+/Na+ ratio, osmo-protectants, and photosynthetic activity. Further characterization of these cultivars using molecular techniques could help identify genes related to salt exclusion and osmo-protectant, aiding in molecular breeding for salt tolerance in wheat.
