Application of magnetic nanoparticles in demulsification: A review on synthesis, performance, recyclability, and challenges

Summary: The use of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) as demulsifiers is growing rapidly due to their recyclability and high surface area. Factors such as dosage, pH, salinity, hydrophilicity, and shape play crucial roles in designing a successful demulsifier using MNPs. Regeneration and recyclability of MNPs after demulsification, as well as challenges and recommendations for their use in emulsions, are highlighted in this review.
