Summary: The study found that the harvested area ratio for US winter wheat production has declined, in contrast to other staple crops, due to lower wheat prices and fluctuating yields caused by temperature exposure. Warming-induced declines in harvested area ratio are comparable in magnitude to heat-related yield losses, and lower wheat prices amplify the sensitivity of harvested area ratio to warming and yield fluctuation.
