Relieving the inhibition of humic acid on anaerobic digestion of excess sludge by metal ions

Ji Li et al.

Summary: The addition of metal ions to anaerobic digestion process can effectively alleviate the inhibition of humic acid on hydrolytic and methanogenic processes, with the dual-metal ions showing a synergistic effect for a higher relieved efficiency.

The effects of C/N (10-25) on the relationship of substrates, metabolites, and microorganisms in inhibited steady-state of anaerobic digestion

Zehui Zheng et al.

Summary: This study explored the relationship between substrates, metabolites, and microorganisms in the inhibited steady-state by creating a C/N gradient in anaerobic digestion. The results showed that competition among bacteria was high under low C/N conditions, while cooperation among bacteria was high under high C/N conditions. Additionally, the study further elucidated the process of ammonia inhibition and microbiological indicators of the inhibited steady-state.

Co-digestive performance of food waste and hydrothermal pretreated corn cob

Meng Gao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of hydrothermal pretreatment on corn cob in co-digestion with food waste, showing that the pretreatment significantly facilitates the co-digestion of the two materials. Different conditions of co-digestion yield varying results, with 150°C being the optimal pretreatment temperature. The research also suggests that hydrothermal pretreatment accelerates the enrichment of hydrolyzing and methanogenic bacteria in the system.

Microbial community composition and metabolic functions in landfill leachate from different landfills of China

Renxin Zhao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the microbial community composition and metabolic functions in landfill leachate from 11 cities in China using Illumina MiSeq high-throughput sequencing. The results showed significant differences in microbial diversity and structure among the leachate samples. Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, and Proteobacteria were the dominant microbial communities, with diverse bacterial genera associated with various functions. The study provides important insights into the composition and functional characteristics of microbial communities in landfill leachate.
