A MC-spiropyran for smartphone assisted reversible, selective and nanomolar level detection of formic acid in water and gas phase

Arvind Kumar et al.

Summary: A p-toluenesulfonate salt of benzothiazonium dye substituted with diethylamine was synthesized as an optical probe for detecting formic acid and formate ions. The probe exhibited significant optical response and aggregation properties in aqueous solution and under neutral pH conditions, making it suitable for digital colorimetric analysis of formic acid.

Palladium induced activation of a substituted naphthopyran for smartphone assisted sensitive and selective sensing in aqueous solution

Arvind Kumar et al.

Summary: A novel substituted naphthopyran derivative was synthesized as a probe for metal ions, and its structure was determined using various characterization techniques. The intermolecular interactions and bathochromic shift in absorption band upon addition of palladium ions were investigated. Smartphone-assisted sensing using digital images showed a lower LOD compared to UV-Vis spectroscopy.
