Abundance of primordial black holes in peak theory for an arbitrary power spectrum

Chul-Moon Yoo et al.

Summary: This study modifies the procedure for estimating the abundance of primordial black holes (PBHs) to be applicable to various power spectra, especially the scale-invariant flat power spectrum. By focusing on peaks of curvature perturbation and using their values to specify the profile of perturbation as a function of radial coordinate, the new procedure successfully decouples environmental effects at different scales. This results in a narrower mass spectrum compared to the previous procedure and allows for estimating PBH abundance for the scale-invariant flat power spectrum by introducing a window function.

Threshold for primordial black holes. II. A simple analytic prescription

Ilia Musco et al.

Summary: This study provides a simple prescription for calculating the threshold for primordial black hole formation based on the shape of the power spectrum on superhorizon scales. The inclusion of nonlinear effects, specifically at horizon crossing, increases the threshold value by about a factor of two compared to calculations on superhorizon scales.
