Non-ionic Surface Active Agents as Additives toward a Universal Porogen System for Porous Polymer Monoliths

Summary: The influence of various non-ionic surfactants on poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate-based monolith formulations was studied. Different surfactants resulted in permeable materials, with Tween 40 showing the highest efficiency and methylene selectivity. This porogenic mixture was successfully used for preparation of monolithic columns from various monomers, demonstrating its versatility as a universal porogen system.
