Microwave-assisted hydrothermal synthesis, characterization and catalytic performance of Fe2(MoO4)3 in the selective oxidation of propene

G. Hidalgo et al.

Summary: A simple and efficient method for the microwave radiation-assisted hydrothermal synthesis of Fe-2(MoO4)(3) has been developed. Different morphologies of iron molybdate particles were obtained under various synthesis conditions, with platelets morphology and larger (100) surface planes resulting in higher catalytic activity for propene oxidation to acrolein. The presence of an amorphous oxide layer covering the solid particles was found to be consistent across all samples.
