Preparation of a catalyst-free and water-blown rigid polyurethane foam from malic-co-citric acid-based polyols

Rong Yang et al.

Summary: Bio-based polyols were synthesized and used for preparing water-blown rigid polyurethane foams, and the effects of the molar ratios of malic acid to citric acid on the foaming process and properties were investigated. The results demonstrated that malic-co-citric acid-based polyols could be a suitable substitute for petrochemical-based polyols for providing water-blown RPUFs with excellent comprehensive properties.

Highly Toughened and Heat-Resistant Poly(lactic acid) with Balanced Strength Using an Unsaturated Liquid Crystalline Polyester via Dynamic Vulcanization

Rong Yang et al.

Summary: Toughened PLA with balanced tensile strength, fast crystallization rate, and great heat resistance was achieved by dynamic vulcanization with unsaturated liquid crystalline polyester (PBDPSM) and free radical initiator dicumyl peroxide (DCP). The addition of PBDPSM significantly increased the elongation at break of PLA, while also accelerating the crystallization rate and improving heat resistance. Highly toughened PLA materials with balanced tensile strength and good heat-resistant properties were realized through this method.
