Hot electron emission from waveguide integrated lanthanum hexaboride nanoparticles

Fatemeh Rezaeifar et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the use of low-work function lanthanum hexaboride nanoparticles in graphene can improve the performance of hot-electron emitters, despite less than ideal coatings. The combination of integrated photonics and low-work function coatings shows promise in enhancing the performance of hot-electron emitters.

Summary: This Perspective reviews the fundamental physics of space-charge interactions and recent developments in the space-charge limited current model. It focuses on theoretical aspects such as nano-scale physics, time-dependent behaviors, higher-dimensional models, and transitions between electron emission mechanisms. Future directions in theoretical modeling and applications of SCLC are highlighted.

Plasmonically assisted channels of photoemission from metals

Summary: Analysis of nonlinear photoemission spectra from Ag surfaces shows resonance phenomena and optical effects of plasmon generation within solids. Calculations of probability amplitude for plasmon excitations and their dependence on basic parameters reveal the formation of multiexcitation spectra, supporting a new mechanism for photoemission.

Few-cycle optical-field-induced photoemission from biased surfaces: An exact quantum theory

Yi Luo et al.

Summary: This paper presents a quantum model for ultrafast photoelectron emission by solving the time-dependent Schrodinger equation, showing oscillatory relationship between emitted charge per pulse and pulse repetition rate, and the vanishing carrier-envelope phase sensitivity in the optical-field regime. The study also finds that applying a large dc field can greatly enhance the photoemission current and shorten the current pulse.
