Role of Blood-Based Biomarkers in Ischemic Stroke Prognosis A Systematic Review

Felipe A. Montellano et al.

Summary: Based on the systematic review, the number of studies on prognostic blood-based biomarkers in ischemic stroke has increased 3.5-fold between January 2007 and August 2018. While some biomarkers show consistent association with poor outcomes in higher-quality studies, there are variations in the association reported in lower quality studies.

A systematic review of the correlation between serum asymmetric dimethylarginine, carotid atherosclerosis and ischaemic stroke

Zhen Qin et al.

Summary: The meta-analysis included 13 studies investigating the relationship between serum ADMA levels and ischaemic stroke as well as carotid atherosclerosis. Results showed that levels of serum ADMA were significantly higher in patients with ischaemic stroke and carotid arteriosclerosis compared to healthy individuals.
