Combined Addition of Ethanol and Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid Enhances Antibacterial and Antibiofilm Effects in Methylene Blue-Mediated Photodynamic Treatment against Pseudomonas aeruginosa In Vitro

Summary: The study found that the combined addition of 10% ethanol and 10 mm EDTA to methylene blue (MB) solution significantly enhanced the bactericidal effects of aPDT on P. aeruginosa biofilms in vitro, resulting in a significant reduction in biofilm biomass. Additionally, the control groups showed that ethanol or EDTA alone did not improve the efficacy of aPDT.

Bodipy-Loaded Micelles Based on Polylactide as Surface Coating for Photodynamic Control of Staphylococcus aureus

Summary: This study introduces a spray DCS using micelles loaded with a PS from the BODIPY family for controlled release and activation outside the coating. Amphiphilic copolymers were synthesized to form stable micelles, with mPEG-(PLLA)(2) micelles being the most thermodynamically stable and effective in releasing BODIPY against Staphylococcus aureus even at low concentrations.
