Synthesis of blue fluorescent carbon dots and their application in detecting mercury and iodine based on off-on mode

They exhibit good optical properties and intrinsic pH-sensitive photoluminescence, showing great potential for pH sensing, particularly in biotic environments. Challenges and future research directions of pH-sensitive C-dots are also discussed in this review, aiming to contribute to the development of photoluminescent nanomaterials with pH-sensitive properties.

Synthesis of nitrogen-doped carbon nanodots to destroy bacteria competing with Campylobacter jejuni in enrichment medium, and development of a monoclonal antibody to detect C. jejuni after enrichment

Summary: The study aimed to improve the sensitivity of Campylobacter jejuni detection in foods by adding N-CNDs to enrichment medium and using LED irradiation. A monoclonal antibody specific to C. jejuni was also developed to aid in detection. The results showed that the N-CNDs-supplemented enrichment medium had better detection capabilities and a shortened detection time, demonstrating improved efficiency for C. jejuni detection in food.

An Improved Synthesis of Water-Soluble Dual Fluorescence Emission Carbon Dots from Holly Leaves for Accurate Detection of Mercury Ions in Living Cells

Synthesis of Fluorescent Nitrogen and Phosphorous Co-doped Carbon Quantum Dots for Sensing of Iron, Cell Imaging and Antioxidant Activities

Summary: Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) exhibit great potential in various applications such as cell imaging, with doping of elements like nitrogen and phosphorous enhancing their fluorescence properties. In this study, fluorescent nitrogen and phosphorous codoped carbon quantum dots (NPCQDs) were successfully synthesized using a one-pot hydrothermal method. The NPCQDs showed excellent water solubility, high fluorescence with a quantum yield of 46%, biocompatibility, and effective probe capabilities for iron ions in aqueous solutions, as well as good antioxidant activity.

Summary: Curcumin, isolated from Curcuma longa L., possesses medicinal properties like anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiapoptotic, antitumor, and antimetastatic, targeting oncogenic factors to impede gastric cancer invasion and proliferation. Combination therapy of curcumin could reduce chemotherapy resistance and radiotherapy side effects, while photodynamic therapy of curcumin selectively destroys cancer cells without affecting normal cells. Further studies are needed to establish the potent efficacy of curcumin in gastric cancer treatment.

Controlled synthesis of fluorescent carbon materials with the assistance of capillary electrophoresis

Pb(ii) detection and versatile bio-imaging of green-emitting carbon dots with excellent stability and bright fluorescence

Synthesis of Yellow-Fluorescent Carbon Nano-dots by Microplasma for Imaging and Photocatalytic Inactivation of Cancer Cells

Summary: Fluorescent carbon quantum dots (CQDs) were successfully synthesized using an environmentally friendly method, showing potential for biomedical applications such as cancer cell imaging and photodynamic therapy. The CQDs exhibited bright yellow fluorescence and efficient generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) when excited by blue light, leading to imaging-guided cancer therapy with decreased cell viability. The excellent biocompatibility of the CQDs also suggests their safety and effectiveness for in vivo bioimaging.
