Characterization of a New Biofunctional, Exolytic Alginate Lyase from Tamlana sp. s12 with High Catalytic Activity and Cold-Adapted Features

Rui Yin et al.

Summary: In this study, a new exo-alginate lyase named Alys1 with high activity was cloned from a marine strain, showing cold-adapted characteristics and efficient degradation of alginates at low temperatures. Alys1 can depolymerize alginates polyM and polyG, producing monosaccharides as minimal alginate oligosaccharides, and demonstrates bifunctionality with a preference for M over G. These properties make Alys1 a valuable candidate for both basic research and industrial applications.
