Whole Genome Sequence-Based Prediction of Resistance Determinants in High-Level Multidrug-Resistant Campylobacter jejuni Isolates in Lithuania

Jurgita Aksomaitiene et al.

Summary: In this study, comparative genomics analysis was used to identify genes associated with antimicrobial resistance in Campylobacter jejuni. The isolates showed high-level multidrug resistance and carried genes such as tetO, beta-lactamase, and multidrug efflux pumps. Mobile genetic elements were found to play a key role in spreading antibiotic resistance in C. jejuni. The study also highlighted the diverse distribution of virulence markers and the importance of genomic approaches in predicting antibiotic resistance in multidrug-resistant C. jejuni isolates.
