Psoriasis and hidradenitis suppurativa: A large-scale population-based study

Khalaf Kridin et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between psoriasis and hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) using a large-scale real-life computerized database. The results showed that the prevalence of HS was higher in patients with psoriasis compared to the control group. Even after adjusting for confounding factors, the association between psoriasis and HS remained.

The P2X7 Receptor Is Overexpressed in the Lesional Skin of Subjects Affected by Hidradenitis Suppurativa: A Preliminary Study

Marco Manfredini et al.

Summary: The study found that the P2X7 receptor (P2X7R), NLRP3, and IL-1 beta are overexpressed in the skin of HS patients, indicating a likely overactive pro-inflammatory axis. This observation may provide insights into the pathogenesis of the disease and suggest new therapeutic strategies and disease activity markers.
