Analysis of residual stresses in rails during the straightening process

Summary: This study developed a new methodology using quasi-static modeling to simulate residual stresses in the straightening process of rails. Results showed that longitudinal residual stresses were higher than transversal ones, and a Gaussian process regressor identified yield strength, tangent modulus, and curvature as the main factors influencing the final state of residual stresses.
