Hydrothermally obtained type-II heterojunction nanostructures of In2S3/TiO2 for remarkably enhanced photoelectrochemical water splitting

Summary: The study successfully enhanced the photocurrent density and incident photon-to-current efficiency by synthesizing a nanostructured In2S3/TiO2 photoanode, further investigating carrier lifetime and band position to clarify the generation of type-II heterojunction between In2S3 nanoparticles and TiO2 nanorod arrays. The methodologies and theoretical evidence proposed in this study show significant improvements in TiO2 based photoanodes, with an all-solution-based process providing a facile and scalable method for environmentally friendly production of highly enhanced photoelectrodes.

Summary: Researchers have successfully designed a PANI/Sb2S3 p-n junction photoanode, which exhibits enhanced light absorption and accelerated charge transfer efficiency through the modification of the electrode. As a result, the photocurrent density of the optimized PANI/Sb2S3 photoanode is doubled compared to the pristine Sb2S3, making it a promising material for PEC water splitting.
