Equilibrium and kinetic study of simultaneous removal of Cd (II) and Ni (II) by acrylamide-based polymer as effective adsorbent: optimisation by response surface methodology (RSM)

Marzieh Abedpour et al.

Summary: This study investigated the equilibrium and kinetic isotherms of simultaneous removal of Ni (II) and Cd (II) using acrylamide-based polymer adsorbent. The optimal conditions were determined using central composite design method. The results showed that the polymer adsorbent achieved high removal efficiency under the optimal conditions. Langmuir isotherm model provided the best fit for the equilibrium data, while the pseudo-second-order kinetic equation showed good agreement with the experimental data.

Ethylenediamine functionalized magnetic graphene oxide (Fe3O4@GO-EDA) as an efficient adsorbent in Arsenic(III) decontamination from aqueous solution

Azam Alsadat Tabatabaiee Bafrooee et al.

Summary: A magnetic graphene oxide nanocomposite functionalized with ethylenediamine (Fe3O4@GO-EDA) was synthesized and found to be an efficient nanoadsorbent for As(III) decontamination, with good adsorption capacity and recyclability. The presence of co-existing ions had some effect on arsenic removal, but the Fe3O4@GO-EDA nanocomposite still demonstrated high efficiency in removing As(III).

A Novel Fe3O4/Graphene Oxide Composite Prepared by Click Chemistry for High-Efficiency Removal of Congo Red from Water

Hongliu Jiang et al.

Summary: In this study, a magnetic graphene oxide (MGO) composite was successfully prepared by the click reaction between alkyne-modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles and azide-modified graphene oxide for the purpose of removing Congo red (CR) dye from water. The MGO composite exhibited a high adsorption capacity for CR and remained stable over multiple cycles of absorption-desorption experiments. Both Langmuir and pseudo-second-order kinetic models were found to describe well the CR absorption behavior of the MGO composite.

Improving the surface properties of adsorbents by surfactants and their role in the removal of toxic metals from wastewater: A review study

Sajad Tamjidi et al.

Summary: This study discusses the use of surfactant-modified adsorbents to remove metal ions from aqueous media. Through the study of heavy metals and various removal methods, and considering the isotherm, thermodynamic, and kinetic behaviors of the sorption process, it was found that adding surfactants such as SDS and CTAB at low temperatures significantly enhances adsorption efficiency and capacity.

Synthesis of Manganese Ferrite/Graphene Oxide Magnetic Nanocomposite for Pollutants Removal from Water

Khadijah Mohammedsaleh M. Katubi et al.

Summary: In this study, a highly adsorptive MnFe2O4/GO nanocomposite was prepared using an in situ method for efficient removal of lead ion Pb2+ and neutral red (NR) dye from water. Characterization using various techniques showed the nanocomposite's high adsorption capacity, homogeneous pollutant adsorption, and easy separation with an external magnet. Factors affecting adsorption and the nanocomposite's reusability were also studied comprehensively. The prepared magnetic nanocomposite is considered a promising material for water treatment.
