Co/Eu co-doped electron transport layer enhances charge extraction and light absorption for efficient carbon-based HTM-free perovskite solar cells

Zhenyun Zhang et al.

Summary: A bimetal Co/Eu co-doping strategy was proposed to modify the electron transportation layer (ETL) in carbon-based hole-transport materials (HTM)-free perovskite solar cells (C-PSCs), resulting in significant enhancement of photovoltaic parameters and power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) from 11.12% to 14.06% while maintaining superior device stability. This approach provides possibilities for further exploration of high-efficiency C-PSCs by optimizing ETL with suitable doping.

Efficient perovskite solar cells via improved carrier management

Jason J. Yoo et al.

Summary: Metal halide perovskite solar cells have shown great potential to disrupt the silicon solar cell market with their improved performance, yet still face limitations in light-harvesting due to charge carrier recombination. Efforts to enhance charge carrier management offer a path to increase device performance and approach the theoretical efficiency limit of PSCs.

New insight on the open-circuit voltage of perovskite solar cells: The role of defect-density distribution and electric field in the active layer

Nazila Zarabinia et al.

Summary: This study investigates the J-V characteristic of perovskite solar cells prepared by the two-step method. By using a modified dynamic electrical model and simulation software, it was found that the increase in open-circuit voltage in optimized devices is related to trap-density, indicating that reducing trap-density can further improve V-OC and fill factor. The results suggest that the increase in V-OC can be attributed to the asymmetric electric field at the interface of the perovskite layer.
